Job Overview

As a Maintenance Crew Leader, you’ll play a vital role in assisting and working with the Landscape Project Manager and Field Production Supervisor to see projects successfully through from start to finish. You’ll oversee crew members, train new hires, manage production schedules, and ensure tools, equipment, and jobsites run efficiently—all while offering exceptional client service. This position offers a mix of hands-on fieldwork, leadership opportunities, and project management responsibilities.

  • Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour based on experience (potential elevated rates during winter work). Performance bonuses are also available.

Work Schedule

  • Availability needed between 6:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday–Sunday (depending on business needs).
  • Work hours may vary; expect flexibility, including potential work during snow events or winter projects.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Crew Leader, you’ll:

  • Lead a team of assigned crew members and oversee workflow, safety practices, and task delegation.
  • Execute and physically assist with landscaping duties, ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
  • Transport crews and equipment to job sites via trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct property inspections to verify excellent results and adherence to project plans.
  • Train new team members on tools, equipment, and landscaping best practices.
  • Manage inventory and perform equipment inspections to ensure readiness.
  • Plan and implement solutions to maintain project timelines and efficiency.
  • Adhere to company SOPs, safety standards, and quality expectations.

Requirements and Qualifications

Required Education and Skills:

  • License: Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured under company policy.
  • Experience:
    • 1+ year in a leadership role (landscape/industry-specific preferred).
    • 1+ year hands-on landscaping experience.
    • Familiarity with landscaping tools, power equipment, and materials.
    • Proficient with smart phones and tablets.
  • Skills:
    • Strong team management, verbal/written communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to problem-solve, motivate team members, and ensure a positive work environment.
    • Comfortable working independently or collaboratively as needed.
    • Composed under pressure with a focus on customer satisfaction.
    • Physically able to lift materials (50–75 lbs.) and complete outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.

Preferred (but Not Required)

  • High school diploma (horticulture degree or equivalent a bonus).
  • 3+ years of landscape installation or foreman experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
  • Industry-specific CRM experience.
  • ICPI Certification (a plus).
