You may have noticed that we have added a liquid fertilizer to our lawn program this year. In our quest to provide the highest quality, premium service to our clients, we’ve developed a new program to incorporate both liquid and granular fertilizers into our service.
For decades, there has been a debate in the lawn care industry as to which is better: liquid fertilizer or dry granular fertilizer. The answer is both. Liquid and granular fertilizers have pros and cons, so when developing our Dream Greener lawn and tree/shrub programs, we incorporated both types to ensure the best results during the growing season.
Benefits of Liquid Fertilizer:
One reason to use a liquid over dry fertilizer is the ability to add other liquid products to the mixture and apply them evenly to the lawn. One example is crabgrass control in the spring. Applying a liquid fertilizer with a pre-emergent in the mixture guarantees an accurate, evenly distributed product offering better results.
However, liquid fertilizer has drawbacks. During the hot, dry summer months, liquid fertilizer can damage an already dry lawn, making a slow-release granular fertilizer a better choice. Slow-release granular fertilizer stays in place on the lawn until watered in with a sprinkler or natural rainfall.
Balanced Fertilizer Approach:
With every visit, we fertilize your lawn with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (N-P-K), which are naturally occurring nutrients. Fertilizer products are labeled with numbers, for example, 20-10-10, indicating 20% nitrogen, 10% phosphorus, and 10% potassium.
Here’s a simple way to understand N-P-K:
- Up: Nitrogen supports above-ground growth like grass or foliage.
- Down: Phosphorus helps root development.
- All Around: Potassium benefits both the surface and subsurface.
At each visit, we select a balanced fertilizer based on your lawn’s needs and the season. Your fertilizer may be applied in liquid or dry granular form, depending on weather, weeds, or pests. If granular fertilizer is used, you can enjoy your lawn immediately. If liquid fertilizer is applied, we recommend letting it dry first to avoid tracking or unwanted contact with children or pets.
Environmental Responsibility:
At Dream Greener, we treat every lawn with a program tailored to the specific property, homeowner, and environment. We emphasize environmentally conscious programs and use premium products with lower volumes of active ingredients, achieving better results while reducing environmental impact.
By trusting Dream Greener with your lawn and tree/shrub care, you avoid the need to buy, transport, and store concentrated products, which could be accessible to children or pets. Our specialists are licensed in Pennsylvania and participate in quarterly continuing education to stay updated on new products and best practices.
Dream Greener is proud to provide a service that maintains the beauty of your property while exceeding environmental standards.
