General questions #
- Which areas of your lawn would you like to improve, enhance, or transform?
- What are your main goals for the landscape? (Such as to increase privacy, include four season interest, provide more curb appeal, transform a patio area, etc.)
- Are there any existing features of the landscape that you would like to integrate into the new design? Possibly an existing ornamental tree, walkways/ patios, or fencing that you would like to mention to us?
- Are there any problem areas that need addressed? (Such as saturated areas, privacy issues, not enough sunlight/shade, deteriorated walkways/ patios, etc.)
- Are there any obstacles, such as utilities, easements, or irrigation that need to be addressed? Also, are there any challenges to the area, possibly harmful pets, deer, or rabbits in the vicinity?
- What is the proposed budget range for the project? If you are unsure, we can provide a realistic budget range based on further understanding your wants and goals.
- Do you have a deadline for the project? Would this job need to be done all at once or in phases?
- Do you have extensive time to spend maintaining your landscape, or would you prefer your landscape to be as low maintenance as possible? Will you need landscape professionals to help maintain your landscape?
- Which design style would you prefer? Formal (clean, symmetrical, rectilinear forms) or informal (curvilinear, flowing, natural forms)? Or possibly a blend of the two?
Plantings and lawn #
- Do you have any favorite plants (trees, shrubs, etc.) you would like us to include? Are there any colors that you prefer?
- Likewise, are there any specific plants or colors you would prefer to avoid?
- Would you prefer more dense plantings or more spaced out / minimalist gardens?
- How important is lawn space? Are you looking for alternatives to a mowed lawn?
- Are you interested in any of the following? :
- A property survey, which typically shows the house, driveway, and property boundaries, or old construction drawings, can be extremely helpful. Do you have any documents of this kind that might assist us? If so, we kindly ask that you locate them and make copies before our visit. Alternatively, you can upload them now if that’s more convenient.
- Additionally, any extra information you can provide will greatly assist us in developing your landscape design. For example, if you have Pinterest boards, Houzz portfolios, or websites that showcase your dream landscape or specific elements you’d like to incorporate into your property, we would greatly appreciate you sharing them with us.
