Equipment Driving Safety

Preparation #

  • Check in with your crew leader to confirm assigned stops and any special instructions.
  • Secure all equipment in the truck to prevent items from falling out.

Safety Protocol/ Health Measures #

  • Ensure you have gloves, eye, and ear protection.
  • Always wear your seatbelts while driving.
  • Carry water to stay hydrated and locate the first aid kit under the rear seat.

Communication #

  • Save managers’ phone numbers in your phone for easy access.

Break Time #

  • Lunch break is 30 minutes (12-12:30).
  • Take water breaks as needed. During hot periods we stock water and ice.

Job Arrival and Client Communication Procedures #

  • Greet clients with a smile and ask them to hold if they have questions, then call Ruth for assistance and they will speak with the customer.
  • Report any issues using the app by taking a picture and documenting in Aspire.

On-Site Protocol #

  • Avoid blocking mailboxes, driveways, or road intersections upon arrival.
  • Place two cones at the front and rear corners of the truck for visibility and safety.
  • Park on the nearest side street, never on a busy road. Do not park too close to intersection.
  • Ensure each job is completed with attention to detail, including make sure you account for all tools and closing gates.

End of Day Shop Tasks #

  • Refuel the truck daily
  • Refill mixed fuel can for blowers as needed.
  • Remove weeds and debris from the waste bin.
  • Dispose of trash from inside the truck in the dumpster.
  • Blow out the truck bed to remove any remaining debris.

In the coming weeks, we will cover unloading, organizing, and tracking plants in our nursery areas, pruning practices, and flower planting.
