Expert Tree Services and Plant Health Care

in Mt. Lebanon, PA, and the Surrounding Pittsburgh Area

Certified Arborists and a Science-Based Approach are key to Our Integrated Pest management and plant health care program

At Dream Greener Lawn & Landscape, we believe in a proactive, science-based approach to plant health care and pest management. Our integrated pest management strategy focuses on creating a balanced and healthy landscape that minimizes pest problems while supporting vigorous plant growth. Our small tree services (20’ and under with no power lines) and plant health program aims to achieve and maintain an ecologically friendly environment for pollinators and other beneficial insects while keeping destructive pests below a damaging threshold. These six foundational principles guide our process:

Frequent & Timely Monitoring

Regular inspections are scheduled based on pest life cycles and emergence patterns. By monitoring at the right time, we can apply treatments during the most effective window—stopping issues before they escalate.

Spot-Treat As Needed

Rather than applying treatments across an entire landscape, we target problem areas with precise spot treatments—reducing unnecessary applications and minimizing impact on people, pets, property, and the environment.

Nurture & Support

Healthy plants are naturally more resilient. We incorporate nutritional soil supplementation to promote robust plant growth, crowd out weeds, and enhance natural defenses against pests and diseases.

Promote Natural Pest Control

To maintain balance in the landscape, we encourage the presence of beneficial organisms such as ladybugs, predatory mites, and parasitic wasps. These natural allies help regulate pest populations, reducing the need for chemical interventions and supporting a healthier ecosystem.

Maintain Natural Resistance

Proper pruning, water management, soil amendments, and treatments are key to ensuring that plants stay strong enough to withstand infections and infestations. When plants are well cared for, they naturally fend off many common landscape challenges.

Proper Plant Selection & Placement

A thriving, resilient landscape starts with smart plant selection. We choose plant materials well-suited to Pittsburgh’s climate and your site’s unique conditions. This reduces stress on plants and helps them establish strong defenses.

Throughout the year, we'll offer timely advice on watering, mulching, and trimming, and our knowledgeable applicators will continue to evaluate your plants with each visit. Preventative measures go a long way toward keeping your landscape healthy, but there are uncontrollable factors that could impact your plants. In these situations, we'll assess the situation, keep you updated, and provide recommendations on the best approach, whether that's to treat and trim or to remove and replace.

As with all our landscaping services in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and the Pittsburgh area, your tree services and plant health care programs are customized to meet your needs. Our Communication Promise ensures we respond to messages within one hour during business hours, and we provide advanced notice via email before our service visits. Plant Health Care Program

8 visits per year to keep your trees and plants healthy

With our years of experience in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and the Pittsburgh area, we've developed a streamlined tree and plant health care process. This is how it works:

Round 1: Early-Spring Dormant Oil Inspection and Treatment

As winter gives way to spring, pests that have been lying dormant can quickly become a threat to your landscape. Dormant oil treatment is an environmentally friendly way to control overwintering insects such as scale, mites, and aphids before they become a larger problem. Applied during late winter or early spring, dormant oil works by suffocating pests and their eggs without harming beneficial insects or the surrounding environment. At Dream Greener, our plant health care specialists carefully inspect your trees and shrubs to determine if dormant oil treatment is right for your landscape, ensuring early-season protection that sets the stage for healthy, thriving plants all year long.

Round 2: Spring Fertilizer Inspection and Treatment

In natural forests, trees and shrubs thrive in nutrient-rich soil, replenished by decomposing organic matter. However, in urban and suburban landscapes, soil conditions are often depleted, leaving plants without the essential nutrients they need to grow strong and resilient. At Dream Greener, our fertilizer treatments provide a fast-acting nutrient boost tailored to your landscape’s needs. Whether applied in liquid or granular form, these nutrients are strategically placed near the root zone, allowing trees and shrubs to absorb, store, and utilize them for sustained health. Our team carefully inspects your plants to determine the right fertilizer approach, ensuring vibrant growth, lush foliage, and long-term vitality.

Round 3: Spring Insect, Disease Inspection and Treatment

A thriving landscape starts with proactive care. Our certified arborist conducts a thorough evaluation of your property, identifying any existing or potential insect or disease threats. By implementing targeted treatments, we help reduce foliar damage caused by harmful pests, preserving the healthy leaf surface area essential for photosynthesis. Since a plant’s ability to convert sunlight into energy directly impacts its growth and vitality, our approach ensures that trees and shrubs remain strong, resilient, and lush throughout the seasons. Dream Greener’s expert plant health care services keep your landscape protected and flourishing year-round.

Round 4: Summer Insect, Disease Inspection and Treatment

As summer temperatures rise, so does insect activity. Warmer weather accelerates insect metabolism, leading to increased feeding and potential damage to your landscape. Our mid-season visit focuses on targeting pests like Japanese beetles and other harmful insects that cause foliar damage. By proactively managing infestations and monitoring for disease, we help maintain the health and vibrancy of your trees and shrubs throughout the hottest months. Dream Greener’s strategic treatments keep your landscape looking its best while preventing long-term stress on your plants.

Round 5: Late Summer Inspection, Insect and Disease Control

As summer transitions into fall, migrating insects can become more active in your landscape. During this seasonal visit, our arborists carefully inspect your property for signs of insect movement, identifying areas where pests may be settling in. Additionally, we monitor for any resurgence in insect populations caused by excessive heat and dry conditions. By addressing these issues early, Dream Greener helps protect your plants from late-season stress, ensuring they remain healthy and resilient as cooler weather approaches.

Round 6: Fall Feeding for Ornamentals Fertilizer Treatment

Our fall feeding treatment delivers essential nutrients to your ornamentals, helping them store energy for the colder months ahead. By fortifying trees and shrubs in the fall, we promote earlier spring green-up and reduce the risk of winter damage. Proper fertilization at this time strengthens root systems and supports overall plant health, ensuring your landscape remains vibrant and resilient year-round.

Round 7: Winter Inspection and Dormant Oil Treatment

When evening temperatures drop below freezing, it’s the perfect time to apply dormant oil to protect your landscape. This treatment effectively targets overwintering pests such as lanternflies, scale insects, and mites, preventing infestations before they begin in the spring. By suffocating insect eggs and larvae, dormant oil provides an eco-friendly solution to keeping your trees and shrubs healthy throughout the colder months.

Round 8: Winter Anti-Desiccant Treatment

Desiccation occurs when plants lose moisture through their leaves faster than they can absorb it through their roots, leading to winter damage. Our anti-desiccant treatment adds a protective waxy coating to the leaves of broadleaf evergreens, reducing water loss and slowing the transpiration process. This helps your plants retain vital moisture, preventing winter burn and ensuring they emerge healthier in the spring.

Specialty Services

For trees facing specific threats, our Arborjet injection treatments provide a precise and effective solution. These specialty services, which are not included in our standard plant health care program, are designed to protect large trees such as oaks, maples, and spruces from destructive insects and diseases. Arborjet injections deliver targeted treatment directly into the tree’s vascular system, effectively managing borers and other pests that reside within trees or shrubs. This method minimizes environmental impact while maximizing protection, helping your trees stay strong and resilient.
